GCF CROSS-BORDER M&A WORKSHOP IN ARNHEM, THE NETHERLANDS

Timo Peter hosted and delivered a dedicated cross-border M&A workshop, the Netherlands as part of the first Dealsuite cross-border networking event, bringing together M&A professionals, investors and entrepreneurs from Germany and the Netherlands. The discussion focused on the dynamics of cross-border deals, differences between markets, and practical considerations for transactions spanning adjacent regions.

Key take aways:

Cross-border transactions typically take longer than domestic deals, as differences in legal frameworks, decision-making processes and stakeholder alignment require additional coordination and preparation.
Selling into another country can unlock higher valuations, as strategic buyers in adjacent markets may value growth potential, market access or technology differently than domestic acquirers.
Early transaction readiness is critical in cross-border processes, as buyers place particular emphasis on transparency, clean structures and well-prepared documentation to mitigate perceived execution risk.

Participants included M&A advisors, private equity investors, strategic buyers and legal experts, and the programme combined interactive sessions with practical exchanges of experience. Special thanks were extended to contributors for their insights and active involvement in the workshop.

The event generated a high level of engagement and a number of follow-up conversations among attendees, underlining the continued importance of cross-border dealmaking and networking within the European mid-market.
